Dr. S. S. Bidarkar, a distinguished pediatric surgeon and academic leader, joined the senate advisory board at the St. Martinus University's Faculty of Medicine as an honorary Director. He holds an M.Ch in Pediatric Surgery from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, a Diplomate of National Board in General Surgery from National Board of Examinations, New Delhi trained at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Pune, and an MBBS from B.L.D.E.A Medical College in Bijapur. He was successfully trained as Fellow in General Surgery at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney.

Asa member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and ANZAHPE,he is widely recognized for his contributions to health profession education (HPE). He earned a Graduate Certification in Health Profession Education from the University of Notre Dame, Sydney, Australia, with a focus on curriculum design, teaching innovations, and clinical communication skills development and pioneers in Problem Based Learning facilitation. He strongly believes in philosophy of facilitated learning in HPE.

Dr. S S Bidarkar currently serves as a director of S&M Medical Pty ltd in Sydney and has held significant leadership roles, including sessional academic and lecturer positions at the University of Notre Dame, as well as acting Foundation Year Coordinator and Elective Learning Program Coordinator. He has also served as a lecturer at the University of Sydney and an Assistant Professor at Osmania Medical College. His broad experience encompasses designing and evaluating assessments for the D.Ch., and MD program, contributing to medical curriculum development, and enhancing clinical communication and procedural skills. At the Children's Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, he also led workshops and courses on simulation and minimally invasive surgery. He is an examiner at university of Notre Dame and in the past for University of Sydney. His career includes working at prestigious public hospitals across Sydney, Newcastle, and Melbourne, where he has facilitated practical surgical skills to medical students and doctors.

Dr. Bidarkar is dedicated to advancing health professions education through innovative curriculum design and effective teaching, with a focus on facilitating learning.
